Release Date Borderlands 3: When do we learn and what is being speculated? At Borderlands 3, players will hear the release date next week. On 3.4.2019 Gearbox wants to announce when Borderlands 3 will be released. There are already some speculations: many expect a launch of Borderlands 3 in 2019.
That’s the announcement from Gearbox: Yesterday there was Gearbox’s big Reveal stream on Pax East. There you saw the first trailer for the game Borderlands 3.
But there was no official release date yet. Anyway, Gearbox did not get much information about Borderlands 3 and celebrated a long wait for the crucial moment.
Following the event, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed that the release date for Borderlands 3 would be revealed on April 3, 2019. That’s already next Wednesday.
Any chance you'll be giving us a release date soon? :>

Does the trailer already reveal the launch date?
These speculations are now: The theory circulates on Reddit, the release date would be 1.10.
A user has a receipt for this:
- In the trailer for Borderlands 3 are prominently two numbers to see, and in terms of time relatively close together:
The page PCGamesN adds:
- The first Borderlands was released on October 20, 2009 – that would be the 10th anniversary.
- In addition, this might fit well, because the 1.10.2019 is a Tuesday and thus a good date for a release.
What theories for the release date are there?
Basically, it is believed that Borderlands 3 should be released no later than March 31, 2020, claims Publisher Publisher Take-Two. Although they did not explicitly mention Borderlands, they spoke of a “hotly awaited game, one of the biggest 2k franchises” – that can only be Borderlands 3.
There are currently 3-time slots as a possible release date for Borderlands 3.
The idea many fans would prefer is a release modeled after “Apex Legends”: almost coinciding with the announcement. Gearbox would then announce on April 3 that it starts immediately with Borderlands 3.
How likely is the early release window? It’s not that crazy. Borderlands 3 will be a retail title. That would have been leaked before if it would start quickly. And the retailers also want to drive properly publicity and see.
Another option is classic in the fall of 2019, in the middle of the blockbuster season, when the big games and enhancements traditionally come out. At the moment we do not know how much competition Borderlands 3 expects – most of the games are known in advance of the E3
How likely is the middle release window? That’s more likely. Maybe you go in late summer and occupy the spot Destiny claims otherwise – in September.
Perhaps Gearbox speculates that Bungie will release the spot this year, or you’re sure that the brand is strong enough to prevail. Or you are in a hurry and deliberately compete against the 2019 Call of Duty.
The fans would be a bit disappointed if Borderlands 3 did not come out until spring 2020 – then players would have to wait longer. But the field would be open to Gearbox.
How likely is the late release window?
That would be the release slot that this year Anthem and The Division 2 occupied and are quite lucrative. Then you could have waited until the E3 when the release of Borderlands 3 is almost a year away.
In addition, Gearbox 2019 has declared the “Year of Borderlands”, since a release in 2020 would be inappropriate.
