This entry contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8.

The last season of Game of Thrones is giving much to speak and besides generating diverse memes, gaffes and emotions is generating immense controversy among the spectators.

Many were surprised at the speed of events, feeling that the series was rushed, disbelieved with some endings and others were simply in shock with the change in one of the most beloved characters.

In Episode 5 of this Game of Thrones Season 8, called “The Bells,” Daenerys Targaryen shocked audiences by deciding to massacre the people of King’s Landing when the bell rang and signaled their victory.

If you were shocked by this moment and what happened in the episode broadcast this morning, you were not the only one.

In conversation with EntertainmentWeekly, actress Emilia Clarke, who gave life to Daenerys in the series, confessed that she did not want to believe what she was reading when they gave her the script.

“What, what, what, WHAT !?” the actress thought as she read the scene that marked The Bells.

Clarke says she was shocked “Because it comes from nowhere, dammit, I was unresponsive, I did not see that happening at all.”

The actress says she panicked as she began to read what would happen to Daenerys in the last season of Game of Thrones, especially in the King’s Landing massacre and the final scene with Jon Snow.

“I went out and got my keys and my cell phone and I came back with bubbles on my feet, I came back after five hours, I just thought, ‘How am I going to do this?'”

Clarke says that this led her to reminisce about scenes from other seasons, in which she recorded scenes with a tone that did not fit with a heroine, believing that they were already preparing something tragic.

“She starts with the best intentions and believes that nothing will interfere with her grand plans. The problem is that the Starks do not like her and she realizes that.”

After the several and remarkable losses, Daenerys began to yield to a cruel thief who did not even know to have, says the actress. Clarke also commented that the terrible actions of Daenerys left her deeply shaken and unable to play the role.
