Gameplay of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Explains the Combat System

Square Enix opened its conference at E3 2019 with extensive video gameplay of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Video gameplay is the first decent sample of how the combat system will work. The first Final Fantasy 7 was a turn-based RPG, but this remake swaps the direct action shots in which you load into the square chain attacks by Cloud’s sword.

The combat mutates when the ATB bar (which appears in the lower right corner) is full. As soon as this bar is full, you have access to a series of attacks far more powerful than the normal ones.

In Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you will not only control Cloud. The demo shows that you will need to quickly switch characters to get a different perspective on combat and access different abilities.

Another mechanic introduced is Stagger, which lets enemies temporarily stunned and vulnerable to attacks with critical damage.

The remake of Final Fantasy 7 will be released on March 3 for PS4.
