400-Player Battle Royale Canceled After Studio Went Bankrupt

Mavericks: Proving Grounds, an ambitious new Battle Royale game that would support 400-player matches, was canceled due to the bankruptcy of its developing company, Automaton.

Since 2015, the British studio has been preparing a new generation of massive online multiplayer experiences but has recently gone bankrupt. A statement has been posted on the official website by new administrators: Paul Cooper and Paul Appleton.

“Be warned that due to insufficient funds, the development of Mavericks: Proving Grounds has stopped. Joint administrators are now in the process of licensing Deceit so that there are no changes to the operation and provisions.”

We don’t know how many jobs are at risk right now. This news came unexpectedly, as five days ago the studio had announced that Mavericks: Proving Grounds would be available in its alpha version.
