Johann Zarco has fun on the wet track in free practice at the San Marino GP

This is not new. Johann Zarco still enjoys driving in the wet just as much, and even more so when the rain hits just before the session and the track dries up as the laps go on, which was the case this afternoon in Misano.

In a weekend where the weather should fully play its role (rain expected on Sunday), the Frenchman signed this Friday, the best time of the second free practice session of the San Marino GP (1’42”097 ). A small consolation prize for the Pramac driver, still eleventh in the combined standings, since, under these conditions, the drivers could not get close to Maverick Viñales’ time, achieved this Friday morning on a still dry track.

The Ducatis have also monopolized the first places of this session in the wet since Francesco Bagnaia (0”553) and Jack Miller (0”622), complete the podium, while the reigning world champion Joan Mir is in fourth place (0”813), just ahead of Marc Marquez (0”824).

However, the session was more complicated for Fabio Quartararo. The leader of the World Championship, still learning in these special conditions, only signed the 18th time (at 2”108), just behind Valentino Rossi (16th at 2”033) and Maverick Viñales (17th at 2 ” 106). Nevertheless, the Nice driver is, for the time being, still in the Top 10 for combined free practice times, synonymous with direct qualification in Q2.
