Sarai Aharoni is Assistant Professor at the Gender Studies Program, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and one of the founding members of the new Haifa Feminist Institute (HFI). She has written about Israeli women and the Oslo Peace Process. Aharoni has also critically examined the impact within Israel of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which amongst other recommendations proposed that more women participate in official peace negotiations and in conflict resolution. In this wide-ranging and in-depth interview the strengths and weaknesses of the so-called ‘feminist peace hypothesis’ are subject to a searching examination. Aharoni also addresses questions of sex segregation, feminist historiography and the boycott.
